One of the first sign of a well managed place
whether it is hotel, theatre or a restaurant – is its cleanliness to impress
each and everyone. The same is applicable to our country also. As a human
being, we are not ready to live in a home which is not clean then how we can
afford it to live in a country. Indians who travel abroad are often awestruck
by cleanliness levels in the developed world and they also follow the rule and
regulation of cleanliness where vis-a-vis their is very thin chance to follow
the same rules in India.
On Last year 2nd Oct 2014, our Honorable
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, announced “Swachh Bharat mission “and also
nominated some big personalities like, Sachin Tendulkar, Amirkhan, Anil Ambani,
Team of Tarak Mehta ka ulta chasma and many more. During that time , all are
showing their initiative and took a broom in their hand. However, while the
broom in hand does make a compelling photo-op and is well intentioned, it will
take a lot more to clean India. If we are really serious about this, let us
first figure out why we are dirty in the first place, and what it would take to
have a cleaner India.
We are not dirty people, we keep our homes
scrupulously clean, but when we step out of our homes, we will find the
roadside littered? And sometimes we also take part in it. Our government is
investing their best efforts to clean the city, but the main reason of the failure
is we are not supporting them. From now onwards, If every Indian has a
concept of ‘my 5 meters’, or a sense of ownership about a 5 meter radius around
him or her, miracles can happen. 5 meters is just 15 feet around you. Given the
number of people we have, we can achieve a lot if we all get together.
Just
Imagine, Swachh Bharat is possible if we start it with, “I, Me & myself”
